#15 Pillowcase Surprise from Suzie Says

Do your kiddos love mail?
Really!?!?!
So do mine!!
(Heck, I love mail!)
This giveaway is probably the one I was looking forward to most with our 3rd Birthday Bash Giveaways because to me it embodies four of the funnest things about being a kid: getting mail, the holidays, surprises & presents!! Here's the Deal-E-O...
The winner will get one pillowcase in the mail for their kiddo every month for the next 6 months!
The first 3 (October, November, December) are holiday themed and the kiddo will get them before Halloween, Thanksgiving & Christmas (for my Jewish friends, we'll nix the Christmas one for the Festival of Lights!).
The last 3 will be custom made (by me or my mama, Suzie Says) for the winner. If a girl wins and she loves Disney princesses & ladybugs she'll get a Disney princess pillowcase then a ladybug one... If a boy wins and he loves Fire engines & diggers...
You get the idea.
You have to admit that is SUPER cool!
You may be asking yourself...
Why Pillowcases!?!?
Well... My mom and grandmom started making them for my kiddos as gifties or as fun things to send in the mail (easy to ship) and they were a total hit! Eli and Cora Jane love having something special from Nanny and GG to snuggle up with. And lets face it, there is only so long you can have Little Mermaid sheets!
To see ones my kiddos have go here.

Here's how you win...

Okay, so I love to make pj bottoms for my hubby, b/c he's 6'7" and we can't find ones that are comfy cozy and long enough. I made one pair for him the first year we were dating. He usually wears an XL just because he's tall (not b/c he's XL in width), but the difference b/t store-bought sizing and pattern-sizing didn't dawn on me. I made him XL pattern-sizing and added some length. The pants were LITERALLY big enough for both of us to fit into. LOL... he still cinches them up with the extra long shoelace I used as a tie and we laugh. I made him another flannel pair since then and those were much better (except for the fake-fly... one day, honey). One day when I have time/energy/space, I want to bust out the sewing machine again. And I'd like to make those pot holder/dish cloth hangy-thingies for Christmas gifts. We'll see if it happens w/ baby girl on the way! :) [How's that for my main entry post?] My kids LOVE getting snail mail! Me too!

I'm always making something with my crocheting or knitting. I've been whipping up some crocheted hats in the evenings to use for Christmas gifts. (I can manage about one in an evening.)

What a great idea! I'm really not crafty at all, my kids wish I was a better decorator and would do a great job decorating the house every holiday, but the most I ever do is put out a few things. I wish I had the skill (and time!) to create a really spooky house for the kids for Halloween!

I would really love to make a cute cotton tunic for myself.. If I got really good, I would love to make little dresses and jumpers for my 2 year old daughter! Of course, I have never made clothing, and have never used a sewing machine in my adult life!

Love this post! What a great idea about sending a pillowcase each month to the kids I love. It will give them something to look forward to!

At christmas time I like to get clear globe ornaments and fill them with glitter, little toys(very small) paint them etc. I have my two children join in, we make them every year and when they get older they can look back and see what they made, so cute! They are great gifts too for grandma and grandpa

I just learned how to knit. By which I mean that I don't really have a clue what I'm doing, but wish I did. Oh, and wish I had time to actually devote to it too!!

My favorite Suzie Says is definitely getting the same socks! Duh, why didn't I think of that? My husband and I have made it really annoying by getting similar socks but not the same ones so first I have to sort them all and then he seems to have a hard time telling his and mine apart so I'm constantly pulling his pairs out of my drawer. This would be much easier. Good one, Suzie!

A few things I've created lately(as in this last year): bike basket liners, applique shirts, tutus and I'm sure there's some other things I haven't thought of.

I'd love to learn how to make clothes following patterns and to better my crochet skills.

I'm such a crafty wanna-be... sadly I am pretty ridiculously untalented that way. But I love looking at everyone else's beautiful handiwork. I'd really love to learn to crochet. I have only been able to figure out the chain and that is it. I did sew a slipcover for my couch once, and it was so much work I'll probably never attempt that again. But it was fun too!

OK, I am NOT crafty. Like at all. Did not learn to sew or do anything crafty as a child. I saw directions for a bonnet made out of a bandanna, tried it out 3 times, all three disasters. Gah!

What a fun giveaway! I have crafty aspirations but little follow-through, so my favorite projets are quick - I was given a ook alled "Happy Gloves" on how to make small stuffed animals from astoff gloves, so my goal is ta make a few this winter (when we inevitably lose a few mittens anyway!)

I love to make all kinds of things, but am not good at most. I actually love to make jams and jellies, and have managed to stock up for the whole winter (my kid loves PB&Js). Thats more in the cooking realm, but it's kind of crafty too..
